Timberscaping Timberscaping is the application of Timber Frame systems specifically for outdoor structures or decorative use. A Pergola, Arbor, Gazebo, Pavilion, Covered Bridge, Timber Entry all come to mind. With Timberscaping, we like to build for long term use, so proper wood species selection is key. Here woods can be grouped into two major catagories. The first are species that have natural decay-resistant properties while the second group fall into woods that can be specially treated for increased longevity: Natural decay-resistand wood species include: - White Oak
- Most Cedars (Eastern, Western, Atlantic, Alaskan and Yellow)
- Cypress
- Black Walnut
- Locust
Woods that are easy to treat include - Southern Yellow Pine
- White Pine
- Cypress (treating cypress will extend exterior life even further)
ENVIRO-SAFE PLUS TREATING - In the past few years, a new and environmentally friendly treating process has emerged. Unlike older out-of-date treating processes, this new process does not discolor wood. Call or contact us for more information. Please click here to view Timber Scaping Ideas |
